According to Mr. Ho Duc Lam, president of the Vietnam Plastics Association, the Vietnam plastic industry in the period 2010-2015 is one of the three industries that have increased high growth rate of 16%-18% per year, only after the telecommunications and textile industries. In which, there are plastic products with a growth rate of nearly 100%. With such growth, the plastic industry is considered as one of the dynamic and spearhead industries of Vietnam. 2015 is considered a successful year for the plastic industry in the export sector with a year-on-year growth of 12.4% compared to 2014, equivalent to an export turnover of US$2.405 billion. The export market of the whole industry is up to 159 countries around the world. Although many successes have been achieved in expanding the international market, the plastic industry is still mainly known as an economic and technical industry in plastic processing when the amount of imported materials is about 80% - 90%.
